This Blackhawk thing is really beyond belief. They replace injury prone (but a key player and healthy last season) with Hossa who will have surgery on his shoulder and the recovery time is expected to be around four months. Or, it could be like Nylander's and he'll never come back 100%. No one knows how long he'll be out. If he's out for 4 or 5 months he won't be back until November/December and could miss half the season. These old GM's who have been around the block are pretty much lost in space. Chicago, like Washington had things moving in the right direction but screwed-up bring in older players for too much money.

Jagr isn't a Free Agent AND is over 37 years old - he's older than Marcus Naslund and about the same as Marty Straka - afetr a while you might want to just say say thanks for the memories but we have new players now - none of which are "Dying Alive."

This is just my opinion but ---- while Cuputi showed some energy I'd hardly say he looked 'great' - he also has some maturity issues as you recall he was sent down to the Nailers for disciplinary reasons. Caputi will be fighting it out for the 1st line LW spot with Tangradi in WB/S unless some miracle showing happens at camp. As to Bissonnette, the latest on him is that he won't be able to grip a stick until some time in November. As to Rupp, maybe you forgot about his one-punch KO on Ryan Malone. Also, what Rupp does do is plant himself in front of the net on the PP. Not presenting a GM's duties as anything but a full time job - I think Shero is now down to finding a defenseman and probably will wait a while to see who's out there and a backup goaltender that will fight it out with Curry.

Luca did not get a long look but from what I saw ho looked great, scored on his shot or rebound I think it was.
As for as Kunitz and MArk, I think money would have been better spent on Scuderi, than those two and Rupp. Ray could fill the fourth line with a player like Wallace or Bissonette cheaper verison

So Fedotenko signs a one-year at $1.8 million and we are not holding a campaign party to have Ray Shero elected Mayor of Pittsburgh! Wow.... Seriously, this city and this team really is somplace special.

As much as Dany Heatley is a basket-case from his DUI situation and requesting out of Atlanta and now requesting to be traded from Ottawa - this guy has a 'no-move' in his contract. Even though Heatley is not a player I would want Bryan Murray is now the ultimate jagoff here. Heatley gave Ottawa a list of teams and Edmonton wasn't one of them so what does Murray do but create a deal with the Oilers. Heatley's agent says no and Murray goes about trashing Heatley. There are GM and Owner combinations that players just don't want to play for and those teams have a tough time getting players to stay. Ottawa is becoming one of them.

BTW, some GM's are now pissed that Montreal bailed out the Rangers by taking Gomez's contract. Between Gainey and Sather they've made the worst FA Frenzy Day deals.

While I'm at it I'll also suggest that the Pens sign Yann Danis who they probably could get as a 2-year, for about $600k and with a two-way provision.
