Malore/Hoot66 – I agree with both of you. Crosby says whatever people want to hear. “Sydney, do you know you don’t have that many shots from more than 5′ away from the net?” “Yea, I’m going to work on it much harder during the summer.” LOL. Meanwhile ‘the kid’ is thinking what looney would ask a question like that. Crosby is arguably one of the top 3 players in the NHL. You can get arguments that he’s 3rd best but it really doesn’t matter. You also could get arguments that Ovechkin should shoot less.
Crosby already is the captain of the team that got their name on the Stanley Cup and in my humble opinion there isn’t one critic of his play that isn’t attempting to get personal attention like they discovered his weakness. Should he shoot more? What a stupid question. Crosby sees the ice as well, if not better than any player in the NHL and because he can both score and pass and go to the net and skate at such a high level there really isn’t much of ANY foundation to criticize.
All you need to think (and a lot of this is Ovechkin related) is if you were starting a new league Crosby would be the first pick and Malkin possibly the second pick. That’s a major reason why we have the Stanley Cup and those other teams don’t.

Yeah everyone is a critic, but all the other GM’s in the league would love to have 87 as their captain right??
Plus he does need to be more selfish and shoot more but he also has Kunitz and Guerin on his line to shoot, Oh yeah don’t forget John we beat you out and won some silver trophy or cup!!!!!!!!!!!

All 15 goals? Well, that’s correct in the playoffs and it was one more than Malkin scored. Crosby scored 33 goals in the regular season – 2 less than Malkin. As to being on the same level as Gretzky and Lemieux — Crosby captained a Stanley Cup Champion faster than either of them. And that’s the ultimate goal. It’s amazing how many critics Crosby has and it’s equally amazing how far they reach to find faults.
