WHITNEY is a DUCK

Shero trades Ryan Whitney to Ducks for Chris Kunitz and Eric Tangradi.

Wow… Chris Kunitz is pretty much a lightweight LW – ?more a playmaker than a goal scorer.? The line on him was that he sort-of wears down as the season goes along.? He was claimed off waivers from Atlanta.? So, the trade is NOT about Kunitz.
?
It’s all about RW, Eric Tangradi being the key player.? Like I hinted yesterday it could be more about?trading for youth to makeup for the lost 2008 draft.? Think youth and BIG WINGERS.
Tangradi was? the 42nd?overall selection in 2007, he goes 6′-3, 222 and is a Philadelphia native.? He is playing on a pretty decent Belleville Bull team in the OHL and tripled his ’07 point production in ’08.? This kid has been advancing at a major rate and the sky is the limit for his potential.? He was rated by some services as?”the steal” of the 2007 draft.?
At present:? 52 games he has put up?38 goals – 49 assists – 87 points – 57 PIM’s.? Not too shabby.
I say… good move (2-thumbs-up)?for Ray Shero on this one.
This is DR Hook…. carry on

    I think you miss read, not once did I say Whitney was a quality proven NHLer. That Didomenico guy got what he deserved taunting the USA bench. He skated right over in front of USA bench on purpose. The NFL has a taunting rule. Great diving act also – he only got tapped on his visor. Someone should have stood up and decked the bunch of them.

    @PKrundle
    For someone who posted continously that Whitney was pretty much a loser are you now claiming Whitney was a quality proven NHLer? What is Kunitz then? The next time Ovechkin comes over to taunt the bench after a goal possibly Tangradi will do the same as he did in this year’s WJC – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8_C73cyvLo

    Trading a quality proven NHL commodity for a draft pick/prospect is never a good idea especially if you are only a few players away from the Cup contenders of a year ago. But since I’ve stated as long as someone pays Whitney’s salary I’d take a bag of pucks…great trade getting Kunitz!

    I think you got your BIG WINGER in Eric Tangradi – maybe better than Dustin Penner, eh!

    Just in case you weren’t paying attention the Pen’s now have (2) players in the CHL TOP-10 in scoring. Tangradi has 87 points and Casey Piero-Zabotel with the Vancouver Giants has 105.

    I also wouldn’t write-off Kunitz (although, never known as a good hockey name) he plays a pretty chippy game and has a Stanley Cup under his belt.

    I agree two-thumbs up on this one but the Ducks got a much better defenseman than what he’s shown this season. Good luck to Whitney (I’m guess the family thing was made-up) and we should see in Chicago if the little Kuintz has the balls to play here! Sorry I couldn’t resist that one.
    Anyone notice that Crosby goes off the ice the day before a trade is made? Just like when the Hossa trade went down. I’m thinking he picks the news up at the breakfast table before anyone else.
    If that’s true he’ll be playing against the Blackhawks.
