They are a great bunch. I really don't think I've come across a "prima donna" on this team either since I've been doing things with this team post-lockout. They really are humble and down-to-earth. You can tell that they are most comfortable when approached as regular guys rather than the icons that they have become to so many fans. Orpik especially is just your average guy...super nice and approachable who doesn't let his "fame" affect him.

DOH! The answer to all problems...PenguinPoop shirts! We need to spring for shirts for the whole team! Why didn't we think of this back in October? We could have taken claim for breaking the curse. Damn you, Krundle!

Loved your article! Hockey is the ultimate sport and have been a huge Pens fan for years. Always nice to read about the Pens players in the community, they really do seem like a super bunch of guys. Anytime I have ever met a hockey player, he has always been really nice. Brooks is my favorite, haven't met him yet but I am guessing he is as nice as he always seems to be!

You forgot to mention how great they've been playing since they got their lucky PenguinPoop shirts! I think Kennedy has 5 points in 6 games, and the Pens haven't lost a game.

I agree 100%. I think it has to do a lot with the sacrifices and discipline it takes from such a young age to play hockey...it's not just a game, it's a way of life.

I've had the wonderful opportunity to interact with players at all levels in various settings and capacities, and every experience has been completely positive. Whether it's watching them interact with fans or having beers with them at a bar, they really are just the guys next door.

Very, very cool. It's like I've always said. There are no other athletes like hockey players when it comes to being just plain, run of the mill, ordinary guys. I'm sure there might be one or two that aren't, but compared to guys from the NBA, NFL or MLB, I'll take meeting a hockey player any day.
