As for the Pen's defense and special teams I think doing nothing we can just expect more of the same but I also have confidence in the Penguin management team to see it also and do something. They have never been ones to sit around with their thumbs up their ass.

To say the Pens defense is playing well is an understatement. Is it both Scuderi and Gill who provided that something extra? It's always hard to determine what is the reason for so many goals against. Giveaways, not clearing the zone (you know... "cleared but not out")... or did Shero make the mistake that Goligoski was ready for prime time. Watching Gill against the RAG$ last night maybe we all underestimated what he brought to the table.
Even the PK is falling so special teams are basically in the toilet.
Every team has players who are hurt even Gonchar may still be playing hurt and looking at his stats (his MINUS 6) as right now... doesn't preaent anything but how bad the defense is actually playing. In the Caps game Orpik was out of position on one goal and Letang on another which Steigerwald attributed to (Nick) Johnson being out of position. The defense is letting us down more than the goalies and it's a group effort whereas on any given day a few in the group of defensemen have a costly brain-camp.
As for Steigerwald... he has gone down hill so fast in the last two-years that he may want to see his eye-doctor and his PCP. I suspect it could be something medical with this guy. Back to the defense... if Shero would think Anton Volchenov.............just saying
