Ok, I guess that’s not fair. Bonds’ cheating ultimately made him better. It challenged opponents to make themselves better. Crosby’s cheating on the other hand prevents opponents from playing better. The constant diving, the whining for calls, the cheap shots and hiding behind the refs (often literally), force opponents to hold back, to play more conservatively because of the favoritism.

On top of all that, he was completely invisible during the Olympics despite NBC dropping his name every 23 seconds, until Jarome Iginla dropped a perfect gift of a pass on his stick in OT. Crosby was by far the worst player on the Canadian team, had a negative +/- in just about every game, and was a complete liability on defense.

So I shouldn’t insult Bonds by comparing him to the most overhyped prima donna in the history of hockey. Bonds made a name for himself well before he was a superstar, was already a talented player before he cheated.

Crosby on the other hand was cheating and got superstar favoritism from day 1. He sucks because he doesn’t play on a level playing field, we will never know his true level of talent because he never plays a fair game. He pretty much gets assists credited to him automatically just for being on the ice, and so many of his goals come from cherry picking one timers, because defenders are afraid of the easy whistles he draws.

He should pick up cheerleading.

He for sure is in city’s like Philadelphia and Washington where the Philly-Flyer-OrganEYEzation promote it because it’s much better than “OrganEYEzation Sucks” from their rafters. In Washington, their Owner who has gone through more re-construction than the Squirrel Hill Tunnels, called his own fans losers for not showing up for playoff games and literally attempted to strangle one of his own fans has created a blog network that only says good things for the free box seats they get finally has got a team but his star, best player in the world, appears to not have the success rate as Crosby. Sure these fans and OrganEYEzations are upset. Remember Ted Leonsis is the one that refused ticket orders from 724 and 412 area codes then bitched about an empty arena.

So you watch replays on NHL. Zetterberg and Crosby have been going at it for the last two-season in the Stanley Cup Finals. The Red Wings and Penguins are made up of some pretty decent personalities and skilled players all of which want to win and sometimes it boils over. Something that doesn’t go unnoticed by those who have played or even watched games from somewhere else besides NHL replays.

“Most” Detroit fans recognize the heat of battle and have a decent respect for each other. Jim Howard jumping Crosby from behind, with his goalie mask on, knowing the odds are against them meeting in the Finals for the third time in a row was a real task of bravery. LOL.
You have to be from Flyers-land where you watch him kick-ass reguraly or Washington where the fans are mostly new-bees and really don’t know too much about the game except what they are told.

And, despite your protests, he cheap-shots players all the time. Since I know you’ll ask for an example, just the other night in Detroit, he gave Zetterberg 3 or 4 crosschecks in front of the net with time running out and the puck nowhere near the play. Totally uncalled for. It was so egregious that even tough-guy goalie Jimmy Howard hard to rough the little, sissy-boy up.
