I think that would work. The NHL refs in some cases let the players fight on. Getting punched in the head night after night can't be good for you and it seems to me there could be precedent found in the many ex-tough guys fighting depression. The NHL not trying to put a stop to fighting, especially gratuitous fighting would mean that they are possibly using the fighting as a way to sell more tickets. That's a lawsuit waiting to happen.

If the NHL wanted to get rid of fighting they would suspend players everytime they fought just like the rest sports world. I think Grimson should look into suing the NHL for the problems it is causing these players in what is basically sanctioned fighting.

I'm hoping the Asham fight last night doesn't fit into your fighting just to fight scenario. I know what you mean tho.. Engelland got in a ton of those fights last year. They're fun to watch but not needed by any means. I watch the hockey.

Great insite from Reid Simpson. The NHL needs to stop the fighting just to fight fights. Suspend players 3 games every time and fine the teams. That will put and end to those. It can be decided after the game which fights are those.

I didn't even know Don Cherry was still alive. How old is he?
