He and coach Peter Laviolette have totally changed the Flyers’ mindset, which was not easy to do considering the team played the same goon-it-up style for the past 40 years. And I’m amazed at how many good young forwards he’s drafted or signed—guys like Claude Giroux, Sean Couturier, Matt Read, James van Riemsdyk, and Jakub Voracek. He’s built a really fast, skilled team that’s capable of beating the Pens at their own game.
