One incident that happened seven years ago, and yes, it is probably the most malicious hit in the history of the NHL, does not constitute a History. I’m guessing the NHL looked at it as the statute of limitations for that incident had expired. Even Ryan Johnson is questioned the maliciousness of the hit – “”(Bertuzzi’s) a pretty big guy and I skate pretty low to the ground,” Johnson said in the Hawks’ dressing room at Joe Louis Arena after the win. “I knew I was going to kind of have to take a hit to make the play there but I don’t think it was anything malicious” Yes, the NHL F***ed up here by saying one thing and then doing something entirely different, and yes, they look like complete morons based on the decisions in both this case and the Zdeno Chara one, but I really don’t think one borderline incident in seven years makes Bertuzzi a guy with a history like Cooke has.
