To raise Lord Stanley’s silver chalice, all the Penguins need to do is win two games in a row.

They have won two games in a row 18 times already this season including once already against Detroit a few days ago. They have already played a “must win or your playoffs are over” game and won it fairly easily, and they have already played in this exact elimination scenario last year on June 4th. This team has what it takes, this team knows what it takes, and one tiny burp of a lopsided game hasn’t swayed how hard they will be playing to win.

In 1960 the Pittsburgh Pirates were taking on the New York Yankees in what everyone thought was going to be an easy four game sweep for the Yankees. In game 2 and 3 the Pirates lost 16-3 and 10-0. In game four the Pirates won 3-2 and in game five the pirates won 5-2. It doesn’t matter how big a win or loss was when it goes in the win/loss column.

The fact is that the home match-ups have been the deciding factor in all of these games, which is why home teams have scored 43% of all of the playoff goals during the second period when the teams have to travel the furthest for a line change.  The Penguins must take advantage of this tonight, and the louder the fans the less chance the other team has of making their changes.

When that puck drops at 8PM tonight we have to be loud, we must not let the team down. If Detroit scores a goal, we must start the “LET’S GO PENS” while they are celebrating, don’t let the team get down, the adrenaline rush the players get could be the difference, so get your rally caps on, break out your lucky charm, wear your lucky Jersey, do whatever it takes to create good karma and lube up those vocal chords with your beverage of choice, because the team needs us tonight.

LET’S GO PENS – SO SAY WE ALL!

The Penguins WILL win tonight and take the series back to Detroit for game seven.

It’s another Whiteout!

Kunitz: “Our guys don’t ever think that we’re down and out”

Talbot: “Everybody is loose, ready and focused.”

Fleury: “it’s not over and I am looking forward to a Game 7”

Captain Crosby: “we’re going to bounce back, we have all year.”

Game time is 8PM and can be seen in high definition inside the Igloo or on NBC but not outside on the big screen at the Igloo because NBC SUCKS!

  1. This game is setting up to be an unforgettable game. I believe the Penguins are the better team. I believe we will win tonight and I believe I will have no voice tomorrow. I heading over to the arena in about half an hour to start “lubing up” the ‘ol vocal chords.

    LET’S GO PENS!
    LET’S GO PENS!….

    1. Stanley Schweble will be returning to Detroit tonight with the dejected Red Wings who will hope to regroup after such a devestating loss to the Penguins.

      LET’S GO PENS!

    2. Toocool, you are right the cup is going to Detroit after tonight. Only because the Pens are going to win it in the Jerry Lewis Arena on Friday. Then, when we win in game 7, it will come back to the Burgh where it belongs this year.

      Good call toocool.

      GO PENZ!

  2. First of all you cannot forget a loss like Saturday. However, it can motivate you for the next game. Now it is put up or shut up time! The Pens say they wanted a rematch with the Red Wings. So here we are. Are we going to let the Red Wings get under our skin? Are we going to give up like we did in game 5? We were supposed to have the momentum going into game 5.

We have the skill and the team that can beat the Red Wings. Now is the time, to show the Red Wings why they are here again this year! Now is the time to show them we are not the same team they played last year! Now is the time for every player to step up and play better than they have played before! DO NOT GIVE UP! The fans are behind you 100%.

Pens are going to kick ass tonight! History will not be repeated. We will hold the cup up in Detroit! Can you see it? I can. (But first we must get through game 6.)

    GO PENZ!

  3. I’m sorry but it does not appear to be the Penz year. The Wings are playing like poised champions. Thanks for a good series.

    1. Love is never having to say, “YINZ is sorry N’at!”;-)
There’s a reason these two teams are here and it isn’t because anyone of them has done anything but bring the highest skill sets compared to ALL the other teams. Three PP goals in a row put the last game down the toilet for our Flightless Birdies – when just hours before that even the Red Wing fans had to wonder what was happening with the Penguins winning two by the scores of 4 to 2.
One game doesn’t all of a sudden make it “not appear to be the PENZ year” except in your mind. And, the “Thanks for a good series” . . . that’s a little bit of premature ejaculation don’t you think. A Pens win tonight and YINZ Red Wings will go right back to being ascared n’at! LET’S GO PENS!
