Pittsburgh Penguins Salary Cap Space

Pittsburgh Penguins 2012 Salary Cap Numbers.  This list has the Salary numbers up until the last year that a Penguin is signed. 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 & 2017.   The Penguins have about $1.1 million is usable cap space left this year before the trade deadline.  Ray Shero is known for liking to keep at least 1 million in salary cap in the bank for emergency situations.  Don’t expect much more than the signing of WBS Penguin players the rest of the way, but trades are always a possibility.  If Sidney Crosby does not return before the playoff the Penguin will have about another $5.5 million is cap space from LTIR (Long Term Injury Reserve).  If Crosby does return then the Penguins must be under the cap on a per game basis.  Without knowing if Crosby will return most likely Ray Shero will do very little this deadline.  If he does pick someone big up without giving away a player of equal cap, it will be a sure sign Crosby will not be back.
